Spreading Sweetness: ECPA’s Lunar New Year Teacher Appreciation (02/17/2026)

In mid-February, during the festive spirit of the Lunar New Year, ECPA continued our heartwarming tradition of delivering special treats to schools across the Eastchester Union Free School District. This annual gesture serves as a token of our deep gratitude to the dedicated teachers and staff who work tirelessly for our children.

Sharing Joy and Community Spirit

This year’s celebration was made even more meaningful by the incredible support from our community. We would like to extend a special thank you to Bonnie Kang for her generous donation dedicated to this project. We are also deeply grateful to the Project Ready volunteers, whose handcrafted treats added a personal and artisanal touch to every gift box.

Despite the challenges posed by a mid-month snowstorm, the persistence and coordination of our ECPA volunteers ensured that these "New Year surprises" reached the schools safely during the holiday season.

A huge round of applause goes to our Volunteer Team (listed in alphabetical order):
Hong Zhu, Lei Niu, Qiaozhi Wei, Xiang Shu, Weiwei Tao, Ying Huang

Whether through planning, hand-making treats, or braving the cold for deliveries, your dedication warmed the hearts of the entire Eastchester community.

Heartfelt Feedback from Our Schools

We were honored to receive warm notes of appreciation from school leadership, reflecting the strong bond between our families and the district:

  • Caitlin Mondelli, Principal of Waverly School: Sent a wonderful note thanking ECPA for the generosity and wishing everyone a "Happy Year of the Horse," noting how the treats brightened the school environment.

  • Madelin LoBue, Principal of Eastchester Middle School (EMS): Shared, "On behalf of all the EMS staff and faculty, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the delicious treats and truly appreciated your thoughtfulness."

  • The Eastchester High School (EHS) Team: Principal Christopher Welsh and Secretary Michele Benas praised the delicious snacks and expressed their gratitude for the volunteers' flexibility and kindness.
