Year of the Horse: A Joyful Lunar New Year Celebration at Eastchester Library (2026/02/07)

The Eastchester Chinese Parents Association (ECPA), in partnership with the Eastchester Public Library, recently hosted a vibrant celebration for the Lunar New Year. This event brought our community together to honor the Year of the Horse and celebrate the spirit of courage and progress.

Event Highlights:

  • Storytime with Teresa: Our beloved librarian Teresa captivated children with the "Story of Nian," bringing ancient traditions to life.

  • Music & Song: Families joined in a festive sing-along of the classic greeting song, "Gong Xi Gong Xi."

  • Art & Heritage: Attendees explored the legacy of the Horse in Chinese art—from Han Gan to Xu Beihong—followed by hands-on Year of the Horse crafts.

  • Free Book Corner: A dedicated station for community members to share and take home books, fostering a love for reading.

  • Raffle & Treats: The day concluded with a thrilling raffle and a delicious spread of traditional Chinese food, shared among neighbors and friends.

As a 501(c)(3) non-profit, ECPA remains committed to bridging our schools and community through cultural exchange and student-led service. Thank you to all the volunteers and families who made this celebration a success!
